Have you ever heard the phrase that goes something thus, “ignorance is deadly”?
Well, I have. I have never downplayed the extent to which ignorance is indeed deadly; however, I needed a vivid illustration I could resonate with.

A few years back when I was about ten, I was out one evening playing with a neighbor and friend. (I loved playing a lot then😁).
We were playing make-believe, where he was my judo instructor, lol.
I still remember that day so clearly, probably because of the circumstances that surrounded it.
There are some certain walls in the storey building where I live. And these walls are made of some brick-like material which have openings from top to bottom.

My little judo instructor said we were at training and I was told to keep kicking the wall; and each time, harder and more intense than the last.
I still remember him shouting ” harder” each time I was to kick again, lol.
Well, we were just two children playing, but unknown to us, there was something deadly lurking just above.
Unknown to us both, there was a snake curled up in one of the holes, and the more I kicked, the more it descended, head first, and almost falling on me.

I’d give you a moment to really imagine that scenario— the danger I would have been in because I was ignorant of its presence.
Someone later witnessed to that particular specie as being extremely dangerous and deadly. I don’t know anything about snakes, but I do know that anything that feels threatened would definitely want to strike back. I was threatening it’s peaceful rest. Haha.

A synonym to the word ignorant is the word “blind”. It is a state of being unaware.
In life, you can not afford to remain ‘blind’ or unaware about stuff happening.
It’s the information age; to remain uninformed is indeed deadly.
Don’t stay ignorant over your finances. Don’t stay ignorant on basic details in your relationships…whatever it is, and whatever you do, just DON’T stay ignorant.
Whenever the urge to remain uninformed hits you, remember it’s a deadly venture to remain ignorant. Also remember my story. Hopefully it gives you the chills and spurs you to action.
Here’s a little ignorance-chain-reaction;
Once you’re ignorant, you make bad decisions, but here’s the bummer; you don’t even realize that you’ve made bad decisions.
That life definitely has to such.
You can’t afford to stay unknowing. There is way too much at stake. It is deadly— not like my snake-story-experience, but deadly all the same.
You can beat the deadly venom of ignorance. “How?” Did I hear you ask in desperation? Well, I’d recommend you read the posts tagged “Balance” and “4 Practical ways to live a balanced life.”

Agreeing— voluntarily or not— to stay ignorant, is agreeing to stay caged behind iron bars you do have control over.
There’s so much at stake. Push yourself a little further and seek knowledge.

In all your gettings, get knowledge. Wisdom is the principal thing.
Check back again, and as often as you breathe.😉
P.S: I’d love to know your thoughts; do leave them in the comments.

Sending love and light your way.
Cheers to steady growth,
Zoey.
