4 Practical Steps to Living a Balanced Life

Yo! Nice to have you back. In the previous post, we talked about BALANCE. If you haven’t seen it, I’d suggest you read “The Balanced Life” before coming back to this.

It would aid better understanding.

After all has been said, let’s take a peep into the looking glass.

Practical ways you can work towards living a balanced life;

1. Get INTENTIONAL

As with anything you want to see a change in, you have to first identify that there is a problem, admit it to yourself and get ready to put in the work.

One time, I realized it was time to begin improving my social life, so I got intentional.

I had more conversations, even when I was clueless on what to say. I attended more social gatherings, no matter how uncomfortable I felt and allowed myself meet and interact with new people.

I made even more noise online and interacted on groups.

I’d say, I’m not ‘there’ yet, but there has been massive improvement. Amen? Lol.

2. Set Monthly Goals

Right after you have made that decision to get intentional and take your life a lot more seriously, set goals; so you won’t just be all talk, no action.

While I started getting intentional and setting goals, I was doing it all at once; probably trying to rush the process.

So while I was trying to improve my finances, I was trying to improve my relationships as well…in the same month, at the same time.

I never had any clearly spelled out goals.

I can tell you I flopped, every dang month.

And then I strategized afresh; I picked one area I wanted to work on for a month and then focused all of my energy and time on it.

For instance, the area I am focused on for the month is growing my business and branding. So far, I’d give me a thumbs up.👍

3. Feed

After picking an area to focus on for a month, FEED!

Feed like a pigeon and feed like a hungry dog. I’d explain;

There was this friend who once told me I eat like a bird─ little at a time, yet many times a day. I’m not a glutton, don’t look at me that way.

Besides I don’t think I still do this. I used to eat very little quantity at a time and then go back to it in a few hours. So, I ended up eating up to five times a day, lol.

Over the weekend, I observed how two animals eat— pigeons and dogs, well, a puppy. It was quite amazing, really.

When I was to feed the little puppy, it was so interesting to watch. The puppy was so hungry it barely waited for me to empty out the food into its plate.

It ANXIOUSLY followed me from one point of the house to another, and all the time, had its eyes on the prize, lol.

That is EXACTLY how I’d recommend you consume information.

(I honestly feel this is an entirely separate blog topic on its own🤔).

Don’t overwhelm yourself with so much at a time; eat in bits but eat often.

You see, the moment you begin to take up way too much at once, you end up confused rather than enlightened.

And while you get access to such information, devour it hungrily.

Leave no grain untouched. Therefore, the pigeon-dog principle.

I suddenly feel like some Einstein. Lol.

And, I do need to add this; you get access to information by READING BOOKS, watching videos or podcasts, attending seminars or workshops and a whole lot more at your disposal.

Just don’t overload your mind with so much, but consume them rigorously.

4. Have End-of-the-month Reviews

At the end of each month, take some time out; two days at least to review your progress for the month.

Commend yourself in the ‘little’ wins you had (if they were little) and have an I’d-get-it-right-next-time attitude.

Don’t forget to acknowledge and appreciate your efforts and achievements. Treat yourself to something if you so feel like it. It spurs you to more action.

Growth is a process; don’t let little setbacks hinder you from moving on.
(I am going to keep this post really close, something I can always fall back to. Even I need to be reminded of it sometime…okay, often).

Happiness, I believe, can be created.

Most times, we have some level of dissatisfaction with our lives, despite so much wealth because one or more areas are found lacking.

Mr. A is wealthy but going through a divorce. Mrs. B has a beautiful, confident mind, yet she lacks discipline in healthy eating and living.

And on and on the trend goes.

Lacking balance in one or more areas of your life could bring some level of dissatisfaction. Right? Right!

Stay happy all round. Seek balance.
